CV JointsProfessional CV Joint Inspections and Replacements in Wolfforth, TexasThe CV joints – or constant velocity joints – are located on both ends of the front wheel driveshaft. The inner joints connect the driveshaft to the transmission, while the outer joints connect the shaft to the wheels. The joints can last a long time and not require repair or maintenance as long as the special protective boot remains undamaged. Many vehicles will have more than 300,000 miles on the clock and still the original CV joints. Problems will occur if and when the rubber boot is damaged. When that happens, grease from the joint leaks out, dirt is allowed in, and the joint itself becomes worn out quickly and will eventually fail due to lack of lubrication. If the joint is damaged, it is non-repairable and must be replaced. At Jay's Home Auto Repair we can order them locally and have them shipped to our premises within two or three working days.
